Appendix B: Branch Office engineering

Introduction

This chapter provides sample engineering calculations for a Branch Office with an Avaya
Communication Server 1000M or Avaya Communication Server 1000E Main Office.

Assumptions

The following section assumes the equipment and traffic characteristics of the Branch Office.

Equipment characteristics

Assume the Branch Office possesses the equipment characteristics as follows:
• One MG 1000B chassis, with an card, 128 DSP ports (fully populated DSP daughter cards),
and one MB 1000B expander chassis.
• CP PM Co-resident Call Server and Signaling Server
• One PRI span (either T1 or E1)
• 120 IP Deskphones with UNIstim firmware
• 48 TDM telephones, comprised of Digital telephones

Traffic characteristics

Assume the Branch Office has the following traffic characteristics:
• IP Deskphone with UNIStim firmware CCS: 6 CCS
• TDM telephone CCS: 5 CCS
• Average Hold time: 120 seconds
