TMS Diagnostics

TMS System Status

The Booting and Normal states of the TMS only occur if there are no errors. A TMS enters the
Booting state only if power is applied and the TMS has completed its initialization from the onboard
ROM.

TMS Software Initialization and Loading Errors

A TMS software initialization and loading error indicates that one or more of the software
components required to configure the TMS is unavailable or hardware is not responding. Software
initialization errors include the TMS runtime image (tms_860.smod), DSP(MDM), DCC images, and
any software required to configure and load a daughter card on the TMS.
Any software initialization or load error detected affects the usability of the TMS card. Software
initialization errors can prevent the TMS from loading its runtime image or configuring resources as
required.
The following hardware can be involved in software initialization and loading errors:
• TMS base
• TMDM
• DCC
• PLI
The TMS does not initialize or load due to the following conditions:
• Defective hardware
• Files corrupt or unreachable by TMS
• Hardware or Software versions incompatible (cardtypes.cfg)
• Network configuration or connectivity
• Bootp file incorrect
Troubleshooting TMS Software Initialization
Use a serial console output to isolate a configuration error from defective hardware. Start the tip
console to determine if the problem is a hardware or software loading issue, see
the System Console
