Camshaft Removal
1 . Remove camshaft sprocket inspection cover.
2.
Loosen three camshaft sprocket bolts.
3.
Remove thermostat housing and thermostat. Note
the location of the air bleed holes in the thermostat.
Upon reassembly, the thermostat bleed holes
should be positioned next to the holes for the
thermostat cover bolts.
4.
Remove camshaft end cap and a-Ring.
5.
Place a clean shop towel in the area below cam
chain sprocket and remove sprocket retaining bolts.
6.
Slide camshaft inward to allow removal of cam
sprocket and remove sprocket from camshaft and
chain.
7.
Secure cam chain with a wire to prevent it from
falling into the crankcase.
8.
Inspect cam sprocket teeth for wear or damage.
Replace if necessary.
9.
Slide camshaft out the PTa side of the cylinder
head.
