TRANSMISSION SERVICE
Type IV, Shaft Drive Transmission
Shaft Drive Transmission Disassembly, Cant.
13. Turn transmission so shafts are painting down. Slide
the Low gear in and out until needle bearing is visible.
Remove needle bearing, low gear, and inner thrust
washer.
14. Inspect shift dogs for excessive rounding on the
leading edges.
15. Remove low range shift fork and dog.
16. Inspect face of shift fork for excessive wear,
discoloration, or bending.
