Commands for Configuring Slots and Ports on a Switch

disable slot

disable slot [all | msm-a | msm-b | msm-s | msm-d | <slot number>]
Description
Disables one or all slots on a BlackDiamond or Alpine switch, and leaves the module in a power-down
state.
NOTE
This command is available only on the BlackDiamond and Alpine switches.
Syntax Description
all Species that all slots in the device should be disabled.
msm-a Specifies that MSM-A should be disabled.
msm-b Specifies that MSM-B should be disabled.
msm-c Specifies that MSM-C should be disabled.
NOTE: This feature is only available only on the BlackDiamond 6816 switch.
msm-d Specifies that MSM-D should be disabled.
NOTE: This feature is only available only on the BlackDiamond 6816 switch.
slot number Specifies the slot to be disabled.

Usage Guidelines
This command allows the user to disable a slot. When the user types this command, the I/O module in
that particular slot number is brought down, and the slot is powered down. The LEDs on the module
go OFF.
