SECTION 6 – ADVANCED SETUP
2. Check that all the prerequisite requirements have been met. It is especially important that
the third requirement ("Ensure there is sufficient load...") is met, as valve balancing is more
accurate when all units are in normal operation. When ready, press Next to continue.
3. The Manual Valve Balancing screen appears. Each square represents one unit in the BST
Cascade, and shows its current T. The color coding is:
o Green: The unit is firing normally, as shown in the Figure below.
o Yellow: The unit is firing but experiencing an alert condition, which may prevent the
unit from reaching the desired Air Fuel Valve Position.
o Red: The unit is not firing due to a fault.

4. To begin balancing, press the Start button. A screen opens prompting you to specify the A/F
Valve position, which will be used on all units during balancing. AERCO suggests choosing
an A/F Valve position that is typical in your normal, everyday operation, such as 40% to
60%. Press Save when done; all units will now ramp up/down to the specified A/F Valve
position.
5. Wait for all units to complete the ignition process; each unit's box should be green and
display a temperature value.
6. The Manual Valve Balancing screen reappears. The lower portion of the screen contains the
following controls:
o Valve Position: Displays A/F valve position; all units will run at this position during
valve balancing.
o Valve Signal: Controls the voltage sent to the isolation valve: 0.00 to 10.00V.
o Select Inlet: Choose which water inlet will be used to calculateT: Upper or
Lower.
o Status: Displays the current status. Some plant events, such as alerts or faults, are
displayed for a short time before reverting to displaying status.
