10. Select the type of upgrade you want to perform:

To upgrade to a newer version of firmware: Select New and press the ENTER key.

To return to a previous version of firmware: Select Previous and press the ENTER key.
A message is displayed while the upgrade is in progress.
11. When the upgrade is complete, reboot the instrument.

Perform DIN VDE 701 test

The following procedure is intended only for qualified service personnel. This procedure may
expose you to hazardous voltages that could result in personal injury or death. Do not
attempt to perform these procedures unless you are qualified to do so.
Since the 2281S series of instruments have overvoltage protection built in, you should perform an
isolation resistance test within a DIN VDE 701 test at 250 volts using a Fluke 6500-2, or equivalent.

Cleaning the front-panel display

Inspect the power supply as often as operating conditions require.
To clean the exterior surface:
1. Remove loose dust on the outside of the power supply with a lint-free cloth. Use care to avoid
scratching the display.
2. Use a soft cloth dampened with water to clean the power supply. Use an aqueous solution of
75% isopropyl alcohol for more efficient cleaning.
To avoid damage to the surface of the power supply, do not use any abrasive or chemical
cleaning agents.
