Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) with Public and Private MIB. The non-
secure (SNMPv1/v2c) or secure (SNMPv3) interface requires a user-supplied Network
Management System (NMS) or a user-supplied Management Information Base (MIB) File
Browser. This protocol is supported as follows:
Base Modem M&C (SNMPv1/v2c or SNMPv3)
o
NP Module M&C (SNMPv1/v2c)
o
TRANSEC Module M&C (None)
o
Telnet Interface. This non-secure Base Modem interface requires use of the user PC's
Command-line interface, or a user-supplied terminal emulation program such as
HyperTerminal.
SSH (Secure Shell) Interface. This interface is used for secure remote M&C (for
optional NP Interface and optional TRANSEC Module Interface operations only).
6.2.1

Secure Ethernet Management Interfaces

The varying degrees of Ethernet Management are dependent on the modem configuration.
1. Base Modem
When Management Security is disabled (i.e., SNMPv1/v2c is selected).
Either HTTP or HTTPS protocols may be used.
o
Telnet protocol may be used.
o
FTP protocol may be used for firmware upgrade or SSL certificate upload.
o
SNMP v1/v2c protocol may be used.
o
When Management Security is enabled (i.e., Management Security option is installed
and SNMPv3 is selected).
Only HTTPS protocol may be used.
o
Telnet protocol is disabled.
o
FTP protocol is disabled.
o
SNMP v3 protocol may be used.
o
2. Base Modem + optional NP Interface
When Management Security is disabled (i.e., Low Level Security is selected):
Non-secure Base Modem protocols are enabled as described above.
o
Non-secure Ethernet-based network management is supported over the NP Interface
o
when operating in Router modes using HTTP (non-secure) protocol and SNMPv1/v2c
protocol.
When Management Security is enabled (i.e., High Level Security is selected):
Secure Base Modem protocols are enabled as described above.
o
Secure Ethernet-based network management is supported over the NP Interface
o
when operating in Router modes using HTTPS and SSH protocols. Bridge mode is
not allowed.
