Introduction
The CDM-750 Advanced High-Speed Trunking Modem is equipped with an RJ-45 10/100 BaseT
Ethernet Management Interface that is used for monitor and control purposes. This chapter
summarizes the functionality provided by this interface, and directs the user to other chapters in
this manual for further details about this functionality.
6.2
Ethernet Management Interface Protocols
The modem's J4 | MGMT port, located on the rear panel of the CDM-750, is a 10/100
BaseT Ethernet Management Interface that supports three (3) management protocols:
6.3
SNMP Interface
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an application-layer protocol designed to
facilitate the exchange of management information between network devices. The CDM-750
SNMP agent supports both SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c.
For proper SNMP operation, the CDM-750 MIB files must be used with the
associated version of the CDM-750 modem M&C. Please refer to the CDM-750
FW Release Notes for information on the required FW/SW compatibility.
IMPORTANT
6.3.1 Management Information Base (MIB) Files
MIB files are used for SNMP remote management and consist of Object Identifiers (OIDs). Each
OID is a node that provides remote management of a particular function. A MIB file is a tree of
nodes that is unique to a particular device.
