Check free height of each valve spring and replace if neces-
sary.

Using a square, test squareness of each valve spring. If
spring is excessively out of square, replace it.

Valve Seat Reconditioning
1. When correcting, check valve guide for wear. Replace worn
guide, and then correct seat ring.
2.
To correct valve seat, use Valve Seat Cutter and Pilot.
3.
After correction, valve and valve seat should be lapped lightly
with a lapping compound.
Valve Seat Rings
1.
Check valve seat for evidence of overheating and improper
contact with valve face. Correct or replace seat ring if nec-
essary.
2.
Valve seat contact width should be of specified value.
