11.3.6 Non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) monitoring
Fault
Implausible measured values
NIBP measurement cannot be
started
NIBP measurement is continuously
interrupted
NIBP cuff cannot be fully inflated
Cause
NIBP cuff attached incorrectly.
NIBP cuff leaky.
Unsuitable patient position.
NIBP module defective.
Cuff size not suitable (too large or
too small).
NIBP cuff and/or NIBP connecting
tube not correctly connected.
NIBP cuff is constricted and
cannot be inflated.
Movement results in artifacts.
NIBP cuff or NIBP connecting tube
damaged.
Connection of NIBP cuff and/or
NIBP connecting tube interrupted.
11 Alarms and faults
Remedy
Reattach NIBP cuff
Replace NIBP cuff.
Reposition the patient.
Have the device repaired.
Use a suitable cuff size.
Connect NIBP cuff and/or NIBP
connecting tube correctly.
Remedy NIBP cuff constriction.
Reduce movements.
Replace NIBP cuff and/or NIBP
connecting tube.
Restore connection of NIBP cuff
and/or NIBP connecting tube.
