How does SS1 function in detail?
Ov erview
Using the SS1 function, the converter brakes
the motor and monitors the absolute speed.
If the motor speed is low enough or the delay
time has expired, the converter safely switches
off the motor torque using STO.
Select SS1
As soon as the converter identifies that SS1 has been selected via a fail-safe input or via
PROFIsafe safe communication, the following happens:
● If the motor has already been switched off when selecting SS1 then the converter safely
switches off the motor torque (STO).
● If the motor is switched on when SS1 is selected, the converter brakes the motor with the
AUS3 ramp-down time.
Monitoring modes
For the Extended Functions wit h or wit hout encoder, you can choose between 2 different
monitoring modes of the function SS1:
● Safe Brake Ramp (SBR)
● Safe Acceleration Monitor (SAM)
