When the Start key is pressed to start a duplex or overlay copy cycle, the
side plate motor turns on and moves the rear side plate from the home posi-
tion to a waiting position which is 10 mm away from the rear edge of
stacked copies.

When the copies approach the stack position in the duplex tray, the diagonal
roller drives the copies to the front left corner of the tray. A plastic plate
guides the copies under the roller to prevent paper jams due to paper curl.
After the final copy is stacked in the tray, the side plate motor moves the
rear side plate 10 mm forward to the edge of the stacked copies.
helps square the stack of copies and prevents skewing during paper feed.
When the duplex or overlay image mode is released, the rear side plate
returns to the home position and actuates the rear side plate sensor.
