Switch Interface Boards

Five switch interface boards (SIBs) provide the necessary switching functionality to a PTX10008 router
(see
Figure 6 on page
30). A sixth SIB is available in the redundant configuration to provide n+1 redundancy.
SIBs are installed between the line cards and the fan trays inside the chassis . Each PTX10008 SIB has
eight connectors that match to a line card slot, eliminating the need for a backplane. See

86.
There are two models of SIB, each is available in a base bundle and redundant configuration. The
JNP10008-SF is the standard SIB, see
Figure 6 on page 30
The enhanced SIB, (JNP10008–SF3) supports
14.4 Tbps line cards, see
Figure 7 on page
31.
