TIE-ROD
Install the combi nation meter/stay and tighten the
tw o nuts .
TORQUE: 25 N·m (2.S kgf·m, 181bf.ft l
Install the bra ke hose into the clamps on the steer -
ing shaft and shaft holder tsee below) .
Secu re the w ires wit h t he w ir e clip.
Install th e brake hose i nto t he clam ps on t he stee r-
ing shaft hol der.
Install th e fo llowing:
- low er met er cove rs (page 3·18)
- fr ont fend er (pag e 3-12)
- inner fenders (page 3-9)
- fro nt wheels (page 15-111
REMOVAL
Rem ove t he f o llow ing :
- front wheel (page 15·11)
- inner fende r (page 3-9)
Remov e th e cotter pi ns.
Remove Ihe t ie-rod ball joint nuts w hi le ho ld ing t he
joint stud fl at s wit h an ope n end w rench.
Remov e t he tie- ro d f ro m th e kn uckle and stee ring
shaft ar m.
INSPECTION
Insp ect th e t ie-ro d fo r dis to rti on or damage.
Insp ect t he ball joi nt boots fo r tears or ot her dam-
age by m ov in g the ball joi nt studs.
Th ey shou ld mo ve f reely and smoothly .
Replace the ball
joint if necessary .
