DISASSEMBLYIINSPECTION
Chec k th e boo ts f or cu ts o r ot her
oarnaqe.
Check the dr ive shaft joints for excessive play o r
noise by m oving the j oi nts in a cir cular direction.
If the ou tboard joi nt seems to be worn o r dama ged,
the dri ve shaft mu st be replaced.
NOTE :
• To repla ce t he out bo ard boo t, f irst remove the
inbo ard boot as desc ri bed in the foll owing steps.
Then remove the bands and outboard boo t from
th e inbo ard end of the sha ft.
• The o utboa rd joint cannot be di sassembled.

Bend up th e lock l abs and raise the band ends to
loose n th e boot bands on the inboard side .
Rem ov e the inbo ard boot band.
Remove the boo t from the inboard joint.
