Remo ve the right side cover (pil ge 3-5).
Disconnect th e alt ern ato r 5P (Natu ral) connector
and co nnect the peak volt age tester o r adap tor
probes to the Blu e/y ell ow and Green/white w ir e
termina ls of th e alternator side co nnector.

In the same man ner as at the peM co nnec tor,

measure the peak voltage and com pare it to the
vo ll age m easured at th e peM con nector.
• II the peak vo ltag e measured at the PCM
co nnecto r is abno rm al and the on e m easur ed at
the a ltern at or connector is normal, th e Blue/
y ello w or Green /whi te wire has an
O PAO
or sho rt
ci rcuit, o r lo ose co nnect io n.
• It both peak volt ages are ab no rma l. fo llow th e
checks described in the tro ubles hoo ti ng chart
(page 21-4).
If the CKP sensor is fau lty, replace th e stato r/CKP
senso r assembly (pag e 11-11l .
IGNITION COIL
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remov e the left si de cover (page 3-6l.
Disconnect th e plu g cap from the plu g and free th e
spa rk plug wir e fr om the cla m ps.
Disconnect the ignitio n coil pri mary w ir e co nnector.
Rem ov e th e two m ounting bolts, grou nd ter m ina l
and th e ign it ion co il.
Installat io n is in the reverse o rde r of rem ov al.
