DRIVETRAIN SYSTEM
PRIMARY DRIVEN GEAR INSTA LLAT ION (1st Shift
Clutchl
Bl ow t hro ug h the oil holes in the driven gear boss
w ith compressed air .
Coa l new O-rings with engine o il and inst all them
into the boss grooves.
Install the primary driven gear into the shift cl utc h
until
u
is fully seat ed ,
Install the 1s1shi ft dutch assembly {page 14-721.

Install the following:
- Ml gear gu ide lapp ly eng ine o il to t he gear teeth)
- washer
- new O-rings (apply eng ine oi l)
Line up the ta bs o f th e thr ee d utc h discs in th e sh ift
dutch .
Carefu lly install the shift clutch assembfv onto the
mainshah and onto the Ml gear guide until it is fuUy
seated (the whole of th e sha ft thr eads are exposed !.
Apply engine oil to the threads of a new lock nut .
Install the washer and lock nut.
Tighten the lock nut whitt! holding the driven gear
boss w ith an open end wrench (w idt h across fl ats:
29mml.
TORQUE: 108 N ·m 1 11.0 kgf ·m. SO Ib f.ftl
Stake th e lock nut i nto th e shaft groove .
