FRAME/BODY PANELS/EXHAUST SYSTEM
MUFFLER
Remove th e rear car rie r assembly (pag e 3·13).
Loosen the mu ffle r band bolts .
Rem ove the mou nting nuts and bo lts, and th e muf-
fle r.
Rem ove the joint gasket.

Insta ll new jo int gasket and muffler gasket .
Inst all the mu ffler and exhaust pipe in the reverse
o rder of rem oval by loosely tig hten ing all the fas -
t eners.
Ti gh ten t he jo int nu ts fir st. then tighten the mount-
ing nuts and the band bolls.
TORQUE :
Muffler band bolt : 2] N ·m f2.3 kgf·m . 17 Ibf.ft l
A ft er installation, inspect the ex haust system fo r
leaks .
Install t he removed cove rs in the rev erse order of
rem ov al.
