Disconnect the PCM 33P (Black), 33P (Gray) and SP
(Black) co nnectors and then remove the
pe M.
Install t he PCM in the reverse order 01 removal.

IDLE SPEED INSPECTION
NOTE:
• Inspect the idle speed after all other engine main-
tenance items have been performed and are
within specifications.
• Befo re checkinq the idle speed. inspect the fol-
lowing items.
- No Ole and MIL bl ink ing
- Spark plug condition (page 4-7)
- Air clea ner condition (page 4-5)
• The engine m ust be warm fo r accurate idle speed
inspect ion.
• Th is system eli minates the need for manual id le
speed adjustment compared to previous
designs.
• Use a tachometer with graduations of 50 rpm
(m in ' ) or sma ller that will accurately indicate a
50 rpm (min ') change .
Remove t he fuel tank left side cove r (page 3-61.
Start t he engine and warm it up to coolant tempera-
tu re 80 ¢C (176 <Fl.
Stop the engine and connect a t ach om eter acco rd-
ing to t he tachometer manufacturer's instructions.
Sta rt the eng ine and let it idle. Check t he idle speed .

• Thro ttle operation and thro ttle leve r free pilly

• Intake air leak or engi ne top-end prob lem
