Setting XES parameters for XCTO

XEROX 4213 LASER PRINTER USER GUIDE
Notes
The language table selection, required to make sure that the
correct national character mapping is used, must be made
from within the XES emulation menus and not the IBM
related menus.
If the 4213 is expected to operate as a Data Stream
Compatibility (DSC)/Data Stream Emulation (DSE) printer,
then EBCDIC-DSC encoding must be selected.
The
EBCDIC-DSC
dependent, therefore, character mapping language selections
will have no effect on the 4213 output.
The functionality offered by each of these modes is very similar.
However, in order to guarantee compatibility with the 4045
model 20 and host mainframe packages, which expect the 4213
to be operating in the EBCDIC mode, the appropriate EBCDIC
setting must be used.
You must set up certain XES parameters prior to using the XCTO.
These parameters are as follows:
Emulation
Font Select (4045 model 20 emulation only)
Data encoding
Line ending
Language.
Follow these detailed steps to set up the 4213 for XES emulation:
1. Switch on the 4213.
If the 4213 has previously been switched on, the alpha-
numeric display panel will display the message:
READY
If this is the first time the 4213 has been switched on
after the installation of the Coax/Twinax option, the
message display will be:
