▼ Remove the System Battery

Caution – This procedure requires that you handle components that are sensitive to
static discharge. This sensitivity can cause the component to fail. To avoid damage,
ensure that you follow antistatic practices as described in

This is a cold service procedure that can be performed by customers. The system
must be completely powered down before performing this procedure. See
Service, Replaceable by Customer" on page 67

1. Prepare for servicing:
a. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
b. Power off the server and unplug power cords from the power supplies.
c. Extend the server to maintenance position.
d. Remove the top cover.
2. Remove the battery from the battery holder by pulling back on the metal tab
holding it in place and sliding the battery up and out of the battery holder as
shown in the following figure.
