Memory Risers Overview
There are four memory risers in the server, arranged in two pairs. One pair of
memory risers is associated with CMP0; the other pair of memory risers is associated
with CMP1. Each memory riser has slots for eight DDR3 DIMMs.
In addition, there are four memory riser filler panels in the server. These memory
riser filler panels must be installed to ensure proper system airflow.
Note – The server fails to boot unless all eight memory riser slots are populated. For

Memory Riser Population Rules
The memory riser population rules for the server are as follows:
Each memory riser slot in the server chassis must be filled with either a memory

riser or memory riser filler panel, arranged as illustrated in
Names" on page
Each memory riser must be filled with DIMMs and/or DIMM filler panels, in one
■
of the configurations described in
page
All DIMMs installed in each memory riser must be identical (identical capacity,
■
identical rank classification).
Note – Misconfigured memory risers, such as DIMMs of mixed capacities and/or
rank classifications installed on the same memory riser, might result in boot failure.
