▼ Install a Hard Disk Drive

Installing a hard disk drive into a server is a two-step process. You must first install
the hard drive into the drive slot, and then configure that drive to the server.
Note – If you removed an existing hard drive from a slot in the server, you must
install the replacement drive in the same slot as the drive that was removed. Hard
drives are physically addressed according to the slot in which they are installed.
1. Unpack the hard disk drive and place it on an antistatic mat.
2. Verify that the release lever on the hard drive is fully opened.
3. Install the drive by completing the following tasks.
Note – Drives are physically addressed according to the slot in which they are
installed. If you are replacing a drive, install the replacement drive in the same slot as
the drive that was removed.
