Check cable continuity:
- Rectifier/regulator main harness connector
pin 1 to battery lead negative
- Rectifier/regulator main harness connector
pin 2 to battery lead negative
- Rectifier/regulator main harness connector
pin 3 to battery lead positive
- Rectifier/regulator main harness connector
pin 4 to battery lead positive

Check resistance through the coils:
- Alternator harness pin 1 to 2
- Alternator harness pin 2 to 3
- Alternator harness pin 3 to 1

Check for short to earth:
- Alternator harness pin 1 to metal frame
- Alternator harness pin 2 to metal frame
- Alternator harness pin 3 to metal frame

Reconnect the harness and run the engine.
Check the charging voltage at 2000 rpm-

Disconnect the rectifier/regulator to alternator
harness connector (3 pin). Proceed to test 4
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to test

Proceed to test 5
crankcase, repair the harness. Proceed to test

If the fault is after the crankcase, replace the
unit. Proceed to test 6
Proceed to test 6
Replace unit. Proceed to test 6
Action complete - quit test
