Installing a Processor

NOTES
Failure to correctly apply thermal grease between a processor and the
heatsink could cause damage to the server.
Populate the processor sockets in order, beginning with the CPU_1 socket.
1. Observe the safety precautions, warnings, and cautions described in
5.
2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server.
3. Power down the server and unplug both AC power cords.
4. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Top Cover", page 144.
5. Remove the processor air baffle. For instructions, see
page 174.
6. If a Processor Thermal Blank is installed, remove it. For instructions, see
Processor Thermal
7. Verify that the processor release mechanism is in the open position.
