10 Servicing the Intel
®
The Intel Management Module connects to the main board. The Intel
provides the server management firmware and functionality for the system.
NOTE
Do not install the Intel
with product code AXXIMMADV. The correct Intel
product code for the Intel
AXXIMMADV2.
The GCM features are included in the Intel® Server Platform SR6850HW4.
You do not need to install the GCM. If the wrong product code is used and
you use the GCM that is included with product code AXXIMMADV,
your server will not function correctly.
The first time a server is booted with a new Intel
update the BMC with firmware to ensure correct operation.

1. Observe the safety precautions, warnings, and cautions described in
5.
2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system.
3. Power down the system and unplug both AC power cords.
4. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Top Cover", page 144.
5. Remove the memory boards or memory board air baffles from Slots A and B. For instructions,
see "Cold Removal of Memory
6. Remove the Intel
7. Align the pin on the Intel
in Figure 113.
8. Align the connector on the Intel
