Part 1: User's Guide describes the server platform and procedures that DO NOT REQUIRE the
services of a qualified service technician.
Section 1 provides a brief overview of the Intel
SR6850HW4/M, focusing on the chassis features. In this chapter, you will find a list of the
server board/chassis features, photos of the product, and product diagrams to help you identify
components and their locations.
Section 2 describes how to start up and shut down the server.
Section 3 describes the Intel
Section 4 provides instructions on using the utilities that are shipped with the Server Platform
or may be required to update the system. This includes how to navigate through the BIOS Setup
screens, how to perform a BIOS update, and how to reset the password or CMOS.
Section 5 provides instructions on adding and replacing hot-swappable and user-serviceable
platform components and memory DIMMs.
