6. Push the retention latch at the rear of the card slot to open it. See letter "A" in Figure 72.
7. If a long card is installed, press the blue plastic piece at the front of the card.
8. Pull up on the card to remove it. See letter "B" in the Figure 72.
9. Place the PCI card on a clean, static-free work surface or inside a static-free plastic bag.
10. Install an expansion slot cover over the empty slot or install a replacement PCI card:

To install an expansion slot cover: align the cover with the slot from the rear of the chassis.
Press the cover into the slot. Move the bracket at the rear of the chassis into the closed

Installing a Non-Hot-Plug PCI Card

1. Observe the safety precautions, warnings, and cautions described in
5.
2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system.
3. Power down the system and unplug both AC power cords.

5. Being careful not to touch the components or the gold edge connectors on the PCI card, remove
it from its protective wrapper. Place the card component-side up on a clean, static-free work
surface.
6. Record the serial number of the PCI card in your see
7. Rotate the retention latch at the rear of the card slot into the up position. See letter "A" in
Figure 73.
8. If necessary, remove the expansion slot cover in the slot you are using by sliding it up from
inside the chassis. See letter "B" in Figure 73.
9. Align and slide the adapter board down until it seats in its connector. If you are installing a full-
length card, guide the front of the card into the slot shown by letter "D" in Figure 73.
10. Press the PCI card down firmly until it seats into its slot.
11. Move the retention latch at the rear of the card slot into the closed position.
12. Attach the required cables to the PCI card.
