Unicast mode: If an entry is available for the destination MAC address, the

device forwards the frame directly from the hardware.
Broadcast mode: If the device receives a frame with the destination address
■
being all Fs, or no entry is available for the destination MAC address, the device
broadcasts the frame to all the interfaces except the receiving interface.

You may need to disable MAC address learning sometimes to prevent the MAC
address table from being saturated, for example, when your device is being
attacked by a great deal of packets with different source MAC addresses.
