Leaks on the gas lines
Leak due to septum wearing
Operating conditions of the
detector not properly set
Thermal conductivity of the
carrier gas is too close to the
one of the compound to be
analyzed
Contaminated filaments
Maintaining a Thermal Conductivity Detector
Remedy
Check the connections of the carrier,
reference and make-up gas are tight.
Replace the septum.
Optimize working parameters of the
detector according to the actual
operating mode (Constant Voltage,
Constant Temperature).
Refer to the TRACE GC Ultra
Operating Manual for instructions.
Use a different carrier gas.
Refer to the TRACE GC Ultra
Operating Manual for instructions.
Remove contamination by baking the
filaments for one hour at a
temperature higher than the boiling
point of the most high-boiling
compound.
Perform baking twice if necessary.
If the symptom does not disappears,
contact your customer support
organization.
