Chapter I - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

1.4 Tube head

Tube head tank itself has got no serviceable parts and must always be returned to the factory
for repair.
For changing tube head see section "CHANGING THE TUBEHEAD" on page H-5.
1.5 Collimator/primary collimator mechanism, Planmeca
Proline XC Panoramic X-ray unit
The collimator tube (Fig. 5, 1) is attached with screws to the radiation window frame. Under a
nut there is an inner limiting collimator sheet which consists of an aluminium filter plate and
lead plates with holes. The lead plate reduces the radiation beam for the actual primary colli-
mator. The aluminium plate filters the harmful soft radiation.
In the outer part of the collimator tube there are a collimator frame (Fig. 5, 2) and a outer lim-
iting collimator (Fig. 5, 3) which reduce secondary radiation scattering from the inner parts of
the collimator tube.
The primary collimator (Fig. 5, 4) is attached to a outer limiting collimator (Fig. 5, 5) which is
attached to the frame.
