5 MSDP Configuration
After the MSDP peer receives an SA messages with a multicast packet encapsulated, the
multicast packets are forwarded to the specified remote MSDP peer only when the current TTL
value is greater than the threshold.

5.7.3 Setting the Parameters of the SA Request Message

Context
By configuring the function of sending SA request messages on the local MSDP peer, you can
shorten the time for a receiver to obtain the information from multicast sources.

peer-address: specifies the address of the remote MSDP peer.
ttl: specifies the TTL threshold. The default value is 0.
When the local MSDP peer needs to receive new messages, the local MSDP peer sends an
SA request message to the specified remote MSDP peer.
After receiving the SA request message, the remote MSDP peer responds to the SA message
with a message containing the (S, G) information that meets the requirements. If the rule
of filtering SA request messages is configured on the remote MSDP peer, the remote MSDP
peer checks the SA messages sent by the specified peer, and then determines whether to
reply according to the check result.
Enabling the function of sending SA request messages on the local MSDP peer
1. Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2. Run:
msdp
The MSDP view is displayed.
3. Run:
peer peer-address request-sa-enable
The function of sending SA request messages is enabled.
The peer-address parameter specifies the address of the remote MSDP peer. When
receiving a new Join message, the local MSDP peer sends the SA request messages
only to the address specified by peer-address.
By default, when the S9300 receives a Join message of a new group, the S9300 waits
for the SA message in the next period instead of sending an SA Request message to
its MSDP peer.
