This section describes the applications of the PIM-SM administrative domain and method of
configuring the PIM-SM administrative domain.

Applicable Environment
By default, only one BSR exists in a PIM-SM network and the BSR manages the entire network.
To manage the network effectively, you need to configure multiple BSR administrative domains
in the PIM-SM network. Each BSR administrative domain maintains one BSR and provides
services for a specified range of multicast groups. The multicast packets in the range cannot pass
through the BSR administrative boundary.
The ranges of multicast groups that different BSR administrative domains serve can overlap.
The multicast address is valid only in the matching administrative domain, that is, the multicast
address is used as the private group address.
The global domain serves all the multicast groups that do not belong to any BSR administrative
domain. The global domain maintains a BSR that serves the other multicast groups.
A PIM-SM network is divided into multiple BSR administrative domains and a global domain.
This can efficiently reduce the load of a single BSR and can provide special services for users
in the specific domain by using the private group address.
S9300s configured with default values can work normally. You can change the values of relevant
parameters according to the specific network environment. If there is no special requirement,
default values are recommended.
