5.7 Setting the Parameters of the SA Message

This section describes how to set the parameters of the SA message.

5.7.1 Establishing the Configuration Task

5.7.2 Configuring the Content of an SA Message
5.7.3 Setting the Parameters of the SA Request Message
5.7.4 Configuring SA Caching
5.7.5 Configuring the Rule for Filtering SA Messages
5.7.6 Checking the Configuration
5.7.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
After the function of encapsulating a multicast packet in an SA messages is enabled on a source
RP, the source RP encapsulates a multicast packet in an SA message and sends the message out.
After receiving the SA message, the remote RP decapsulates it and transmits the multicast packet
along RPT to the users in the local domain.
By default, when a receiver joins in, the S9300 does not initiatively send an SA request message
to the MSDP peer. The S9300 waits for the SA message sent by the MSDP peer during the next
period, which delays the time for the receiver to obtain the information from multicast sources.
To enable the new receiver to learn the information about active multicast sources, the S9300
needs to initiatively send an SA request message to the MSDP peer.
To shorten the delay of obtaining multicast information, you can enable SA caching on the
S9300, that is, the S9300 can locally cache (S, G) entities contained in SA messages. In addition,
you can set the maximum number of (S, G) entries to be cached to efficiently protect the
S9300 against DoS attacks.
By default, the S9300 accepts all SA messages that pass the RPF check, and forwards the SA
messages to all MSDP peers. In addition, you can configure the filtering rule to control the
transmission of SA messages between MSDP peers.
