4.7.4 Enabling the Function of Tracking a Downstream Neighbor
Context
The function of tracking a downstream neighbor can be configured globally or on an interface.

Run:
hello-option dr-priority priority
The priority of the interface that takes part in DR election is set.
On a network segment where all S9300s support the DR priority, the interface with
the highest priority functions as the DR. In the case of the same priority, the interface
with the largest IP address functions as the DR. If any S9300 does not support the DR
priority, the interface with the largest IP address functions as the DR.
Setting the parameters for controlling DR election on an interface

Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.

Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
On the S9300, VLANIF interfaces and loopback interfaces support PIM.

Run:
pim hello-option dr-priority priority
The priority of the interface that takes part in DR election is set.

Run:
pim timer dr-switch-delay interval
The DR switchover delay is set.
DR switchover delay refers to the valid period of keeping the entry after an interface
changes from a DR to a non-DR
By default, the PIM routing entry is deleted immediately after the interface changes
from DR to non-DR.
The global configuration is valid for each interface.
The configuration on an interface is valid only for the specific interface. The configuration
on an interface takes precedence over the global configuration. If the configuration on an
interface is not done, the global configuration is used.
NOTE
The precise tracking can be implemented only when all S9300s that run PIM in the shared network segment
are enabled with this function.
