3 PIM-DM Configuration

3.4.3 Enabling PIM-DM

Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
On the S9300, VLANIF interfaces and loopback interfaces support PIM.
Step 3 Run:
pim dm
PIM-DM is enabled.
After PIM-DM is enabled on interfaces, the S9300s set up the PIM neighbor relation with each
other. The S9300s then can process protocol packets received from PIM neighbors.
You can run the undo pim dm command to disable PIM-DM on an interface.

NOTE
PIM-DM and PIM-SM cannot be enabled on the same interface. When the S9300 is deployed in a PIM-
DM domain, enable PIM-DM on all non-boundary interfaces.
Run the display pim interface [ interface-type interface-number | up | down ]
[ verbose ] command to check the PIM information on the interface.
Run the display pim neighbor [ interface interface-type interface-number | neighbor-
address ] [ verbose ] command to check the information about a PIM neighbor.
Run the display pim routing-table [ group-address [ mask { group-mask-length | group-
mask } ] ] [ source-address [ mask { source-mask-length | source-mask } ] ] [ incoming-
interface { interface-type interface-number | register } ] [ outgoing-interface { include |
exclude | match } { interface-type interface-number | register | none } ] [ mode { dm |
sm | ssm } ] [ flags flag-value ] [ fsm ] command to check the PIM multicast routing table.
