6.6 Configuring PoE Functions
After configuring PoE functions, the device provides power for PDs.

Before configuring PoE, complete the following tasks:

6.6.1 Enabling the PoE Function
Context
Ensure that the PoE function on the interface is enabled before powering on a PD connected to
the interface.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
Issue 05 (2014-01-16)
l When the PoE provides power for a PD, the PD can work without other external power supplies.
l If a PD has an external power supply, the PoE work in redundancy mode.
Installing the PoE power module and powering on
Connecting the interfaces on the PSE to PD to ensure that the status of the link layer protocol
of the interface is Up
Generally, the device can detect whether a PD connected to it needs power supply and provides PoE
function. If you need to modify the PoE configuration or manually power on the PD, see the following
configuration.
