6F1-10 IGNITION SYSTEM (FOR G16 ENGINE)
1. Spark plug for No.1 cylinder

SPARK PLUG

REMOVAL
1) Pull out high-tension cord while gripping its cap.
2) Remove ignition coil assembly, referring to "Ignition Coil Assem-
bly" under "On-Vehicle Service" earlier in this section.
3) Remove spark plug
INSPECTION
Inspect them for:
_ Electrode wear
_ Carbon deposits
_ Insulator damage
If any abnormality is found, adjust air gap, clean with spark plug
cleaner or replace them with specified new plug.
Spark plug air gap "a": 1.0 – 1.1 mm (0.039 – 0.043 in.)
Spark plug type: NGK
NOTE:
It is highly recommended to use NGK IFR6E11 for better en-
gine starting performance.
CAUTION:
When servicing the iridium/platinum sparkplugs (slender
center electrode type plugs), do not touch the center elec-
trode to avoid damage to it. The electrode is not strong
enough against mechanical force as it is slender and its ma-
terial is not mechanically tough.
INSTALLATION
1) Install spark plug and tighten it to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 25 N
2) Install ignition coil assembly, referring to "Ignition Coil Assembly"
under "On-Vehicle Service" earlier in this section.
3) Install high-tension cord while gripping its cap.
IGNITION TIMING ADJUSTING RESISTOR
(IF EQUIPPED)
REMOVAL
1) With ignition switch OFF, remove ECM (or PCM), referring to
"ECM (or PCM)" under "On-Vehicle Service" in SECTION 6E1.
2) Remove ignition timing adjusting resistor.
