The NEC SonicView
solution. The SonicView software offers robust features designed specifically for business users who
want to make use of Enterprise call data for reporting, analysis and monitoring. The different
components that make up the SonicView application are:


Web Server
The SonicView application uses the Apache Tomcat server as a web container, or web server. Apache
Tomcat implements the necessary Java Servlet and Java Server Pages (JSP) specifications from Sun
Microsystems. Thus, providing an environment for the SonicView application to run in conjunction with a
web server. It adds tools for configuration and management but can also be configured by editing
configuration files that are normally XML-formatted. Tomcat includes its own internal HTTP server.

Database Server
The SonicView application uses PostgreSQL server as the database server for storing all the call
information captured from the network. The PostgreSQL database server can be implemented in a
straightforward manner as a separate node (on a network) dedicated to running database-management
software. This node provides an interface to client nodes (the end users of the SonicView application)
such that the same data is accessible to all nodes. The SonicView application interface allows users to
submit requests to the database server and retrieve call information. The database server manages the
processor-intensive work such as data manipulation, compilation, and optimization. It then, sends only
the final results back to the SonicView application.
