Image Processing Process

The binary image data transmitted from the Image Processing Board of the IR section
undergoes the following processes before being transmitted to the PH section.
IR Section
1. Image Memory
3. Encoded memory
5. Output Image memory
PHC Section
1. Input Image Memory
• Stores binary image data.
• Consists of SDRAM, and is capable of storing about one A5 page of copy data.
2. Compression Circuitry
• Reads the binary data from the Image Memory block, one line at a time, and further com-
presses it.
• Use of this compression step makes it possible for the next block (Encoded Memory
block) to hold data.
3. Encoded Memory
• Stores the encoded (compressed) data received from the previous block.
• Consists of SDRAM. Capable of holding data for up to about 100 pages of standard A4
originals.
4. Expansion Circuitry
• Performs image rotation, shift, erase, and other editing functions for subsequent output to
the printer.
5. Output Image Memory
• Stores the expanded image data. It is then output to the PHC section.
