the MP2500 has simply been stored without being used, it may need
recharging after two to three weeks.
If you need to use the MP2500 immediately, you can change the batteries
or use the MP2500 AC Adaptor. If you change to non-rechargeable
batteries, you MUST disable charging; refer to sections 8.2.3 and 11.5 for
details.
8.2.2.2 Recharging batteries
You can recharge the batteries by connecting the MP2500 AC Adaptor,
with charging enabled.
The special MP2500 AC Adaptor is the only AC adaptor which may be
used to recharge the H
in the MP2500. Using a non-approved AC adaptor or battery eliminator may
damage the MP2500 or the batteries.
Make sure that charging is enabled. You can now simply leave the unit to
recharge, and don't need to do anything else. The charge period is
monitored by the operating system, which automatically switches to trickle
charge after 20 hours. This allows both NiCd and NiMH batteries to be
safely left on charge for long periods. (However, the application may disable
charging. If in doubt, check the application's user instructions.)
When using the AC adaptor be absolutely certain that the MP2500 has the
appropriate H
USKY
rechargeable batteries of different age or state of charge, as this produces
a risk of chemical leakage, gassing or explosion. Do not attempt charging at
temperatures outside the range 0°C to 40°C, 32°F to 104°F (nominal).
The AC adaptor contains lethal voltages, so under no circumstances should
it be opened, in any way tampered with, or used for any other purpose.
Keep it dry. There are no user serviceable items inside the case.
The AC adaptor is fully protected against continuous short circuits and is
double insulated, so an earth connection is not necessary.
Important Note: During charging, the MP2500 may heat up noticeably.
This is quite normal and does not pose a hazard. In particular, the battery
cap and adjacent blanking plug will feel quit warm to the touch.
