32.4 Calculating power usage
32.4.1 Rechargeable batteries
To help you calculate power usage and battery life, here are some typical
figures for battery usage. The measurements were carried out at 20°C
(68°F), with a battery terminal voltage of 3.6V and no options fitted other
than those shown:
MP2500 State (with 2MB RAM)
OFF (Quiescent)**
ON (Powersave - Stop)
ON (Powersave - Halt)
ON (Executing)
Note:
**Add battery self-discharge to this figure (typically 2% to 5% of
capacity per day)

32.4.2 Alkaline batteries
Note that Alkaline batteries have higher internal resistance, particularly at
lower temperatures, so the figures given for rechargeable batteries, above,
cannot be used.
As a rough guide, for an MP2500 unit in an executing state (see the table
above), a set of Alkaline batteries can be assumed to have the following
usable capacities:
20°C
1500 mAh
0°C
600 mAh
-10°C 200 mAh
