17.4 Testing

Once you have installed and configured the application, you should run it
and use its main functions briefly, to make sure that operation is correct. In
particular, check that:
1
Screen behaviour is acceptable. For example, is text highlighting
invisible, or is the LCD screen constantly scrolling to show output in two
different areas of the virtual screen? (If there is a problem, see section
17.5.2.)
2
When the user leaves the application or selects a DOS command, it is
executed correctly. (If not, check COMSPEC and PATH.)
3
Any utilities that the user or application might need have been installed.
(If not, install them.)
4
Printing works correctly, if appropriate. If not, you may need other
device drivers (see the application installation instructions) or need to
configure communications (see Part 2).

17.5 Special considerations

17.5.1 Batteries

MP2500 will usually be operated from batteries while in the field. Its
sophisticated power monitoring system will help get the maximum trouble-
free operating time from a set of batteries.
MP2500 has one power management mode, which is based on the
Standard Power Management (SPM) mode of the H
levels are continuously monitored for the low battery condition. Charging
can be enabled/disabled via UTIL or by the application.
170
can change this from within custom applications
by using INT 15H, as described later.)
This is generally very helpful, but does mean that
you should not rely on AUTOEXEC.BAT to run an
application each time MP2500 is turned on.
