Check that the connection is still made (eg check that the telephone line
has not been lost or a cable has not come unplugged).

Check for component failure.
If communications fails because of timeouts, you can increase the periods
or disable the timeouts entirely by using the UTIL command or by using
similar options in an MP2500 application.
