10.3 The ORACLE utility

The ORACLE utility is run on a PC, to allow an MP2500 to access its A
drive via a serial cable:
Type ORACLE /19200 or ORACLE /19200/COM1: on the PC to connect
via the PC's COM1 port.
Type ORACLE /19200/COM2: on the PC to connect via the PC's COM2
port.
The above commands connect at 19,200 Baud, the highest speed
supported by the MP2500.
ORACLE's main purpose is to allow you to boot MP2500 from a diskette,
when it will not boot from its own drives - see section 0,
The BOOT OPTION menu for details. This menu allows you to specify
which port on the MP2500 connects to the PC, but a standard MP2500 unit
can only use COM2.
ORACLE can also be used to access the PC's A drive without using the
Boot Option menu as follows, but the INTERLINK utility is much more
versatile and recommended for this type of work. See section 10.5, The
INTERLINK utility for details.
To access the A drive via ORACLE:
1. Connect the MP2500 unit to one of the PC's serial ports via a crossed
(null modem) cable.
2. If you've connected to the PC via its COM1 port, type ORACLE /19200
and press Enter on the PC; if you've connected via its COM2 port, type
ORACLE /19200 /COM2: and press Enter.
3. You can now access the PC's A drive as drive B.
