5.2 Fitting batteries

MP2500 is normally supplied without any battery fitted, you should therefore
fit batteries before use. If you are using NiMH or NiCd batteries you must
only use the appropriate H
alternative). See section 8.2.2 for information on setting up for rechargeable
batteries. If fitting alkaline batteries, you will need three AA-size alkaline
batteries and the battery packing tube supplied with MP2500 (this packing
tube is only supplied if alkaline batteries were specified at the time of the
order).
CAUTION:
Do not mix batteries of different types, sizes, or states of
charge. DO NOT FIT LITHIUM BATTERIES UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES.
Alkaline batteries are not suitable for operation of high power PC Cards and
peripherals, or for use at low temperatures.
We do not recommend use of the cheaper Zinc-Carbon batteries for routine
operation, as they may leak (damaging the MP2500) and have shorter lives.
You may however use such batteries for short periods, in an emergency.
To fit the batteries:
Turn off.
Use a COIN to undo the battery cap.
Carefully feed in the battery stick (or individual alkaline cells), positive
end first. If you are fitting AA-size batteries, insert them in the battery
packing tube.
Take the battery cap and, with finger pressure only, press it into the
battery compartment and turn it clockwise.
Only after the thread is started, use a coin to screw the cap tightly
home.
If you prefer, you can operate the MP2500 from the MP2500 AC Adaptor
when portability is not required, provided that the unit is fitted with
rechargeable batteries. See section 8.2.4 for details.
