10.Image Quality Problem: Spots
Solution
1.
Register the problem paper brand in the "Custom Paper Settings".
2. Change the value of the fusing heat roller temperature (No. 1232) to "Current Value + 5 deg.".
Productivity Mode: No.1232-01/06/07/26/27
Fusing Quality Mode: No.1232-46/51/52/71/72

Print the target image. (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). If the problem is not
solved or the image is unacceptable, gradually increase the temperature by 5 degrees and check
again. (Upper limit is 185 degrees.)
If increasing the temperature of the heating roller causes noticeable glossy streaks or if paper
becomes jammed in the fuser unit, return the temperature setting to the initial value, and then
proceed to step 5.

Print the target image (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). Is the problem solved?
YES: Finish
NO: Go to next step.
5.
Decrease the print speed (No. 1231) by 1 level.
Ex) High > Middle
Productivity Mode: No.1231-01/02/03/06/07
Fusing Quality Mode: No.1231-10/11/12/15/16

Print the target image. (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). If the problem is not
solved or the image is unacceptable, decrease the print speed (No. 1231) by 1 level again.
Ex) Middle > Low
If decreasing the print speed results in paper jams at the fuser unit, change the print speed back to
the default value, and proceed to step 8.
7.
Print the target image (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). Is the problem solved?
YES: Finish
NO: Go to next step.

In "Fusing Cleaning: Cleaning Intervals (No.1238)", shorten the cleaning interval by 1 level.
Ex) Normal > Frequently
9.
Print the target image. (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). If the problem is not
solved or the image is unacceptable, shorten the cleaning intervals (No. 1238) by 1 level again.
10. Print the target image (After printing 20 sheets, print another 10 sheets). Is the problem solved?
YES: Finish
NO: No further improvement can be expected in the field.

After taking the above measures, do the color calibration adjustment of the DFE.

Changing the value for "No. 1238: Fusing Cleaning: Cleaning Interval" can shorten the
replacement cycle for the cleaning web.
