POWER/GROUND LINE INSPECTION
Disconnect the comhin11tion meter m ulti-connector.
Check the fo llowing at the wire harness side connec-
tor termi nals of the combination rrieter.
Power input line
Measure th e voltage between the Black/Brown w ire
term inal
(+)
an d Ground (- ).
There should hP. h11ttery vo ltage with the ig niti on
switch turn ed to "ON"".
If there is no voltage, check for an open circuit in
Bla ck/Brown w i re .
Back-up voltage line
Measur e the voltage between t he Red/Green wirP. tP.r-
min;il
(+)
11nd Ground (- ).
There shou ld be battery voltage at all times.
If there is no voltage, check for an open circuit in
Red/ Green wirP..
Sensor ground line
Check for co ntinu ity hetwP.Fm the Green/ Black w ire
termina l (-tl and Ground ( ).
There should be battery voltage at all ti1 11es.
If t here is no voltage, check for an open r.irr.uit in
GreP.n/Bl11d wire .
SPEEDOMETER/VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR
SYSTEM INSPECTION
Check that the tochometer and coolant te mperatu re
m eter fu nction proµerly.
If they do not function, perform the power and
ground line inspection of the com bi nation m eter
(see above).
If L hey function, shift the transmission i nto neut ral,
disr.onnect the combinotion meter com binatio n
meter 9P (N atura l) and 9P (Black) co rrneclors and
turn the iy11 ition switch to "ON".
Mells11 rP. t he voltage between the Pink/Green (+l
and Green/Black (-) wire t erminals of the w ire har-
ness side connector.
Slowly turn the rear wheel by h11nrl.
There shou ld be Oto 5 V pulse voltag e.
- If no p ulse voltage ap pears, rP.pl11r.P. the r.omb1nat1 on
meter print circuit board.
- If pu lse voltage does not appear, check. for , n o pe n
o r sh ort circuit in Pink/Green wi re.
If the Pi nk/Green w ire is OK, check for th e speed
senso r (page 19-12).
