Turn
the
igniti
on switch to "ON"
and
the 9 ngine stop
switch on.
Check for initial
voltage
at this
time.
The battery voltage shou ld be mcnsurcd.
If
the
initial
voltage cannot be measured, check
the
µuwe, supply circuit (refe
r
to
the
troubleshooting,
page
17-3).
Crank the
enyine
with t he
sta,ter mot
or and
read
the
ignition coil prim11ry peak vo ltage.
PEAK
VOLTAGE:
100
V
minimum
It
the
peak voltage is abnormnl, check for an open
circuit o
r
poor
connecti
on in
the
Blue/
Black,
Yell
ow/White,
Red/
Blue and
Red/Yellow wires.
If
no
defects
11re found
in the
harness, refer to
the
troubleshooting
chart
on page 17-3.
IGNITION

PEAK
VOLTAGE
Check all system con nections
before
inspection.
If
the system is nisconnected,
incorrect
peak voltage
might
be
measured.
Check
cyl inder cu111p,ession
and
check that the
spark pl ugs are
inst
alled
c:orrectly.
Remove
the following:
-
Seat
(page
2-2)
-
Lower
cowl
(page
2-4)
Disconnect
the
22P
(Lig ht
gray) connector from
the
ECM.
